Campus Events:

09/30: Transformists

Interdisciplinary writer, teacher and performer Dr. M. Leslie Santana will host a conference on the links between performance and racial, sexual or economic transformations on September 30. The event will be held virtually from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

31/09: Manhattan Short Film Festival

The KUNR and Joe Crowley Student Union at the University of Nevada at Reno present the Manhattan Shorts Film Festival 2021. The film festival will be screened in over 250 theaters and you will be the judge to vote for your favorite. The event will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the third floor of the JCSU in the theater. Tickets cost $ 15 for general admission and can be found in line.

05/10: Harnessing the power of diversity: visual artist and activist Julio Salgado

Visual artist Julio Salgado will discuss the topics of immigration, homosexuality and media representation for people of color and the LGTBQ + community on October 5 at the JCSU Theater. Salgado will show the audience how to use art to confront the evils of society in the media. The event will take place from 5.30 p.m. to 6.45 p.m.

Off-campus events:

9 / 8-10 / 5: Viewpoints 3 – Flora and Fauna of the Western United States

The Sierra Arts Foundation will be showcasing a number of quilts that depict the natural beauty of the western United States from September 8 through October 5. The event is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Sierra Arts Foundation Main Gallery.

29/09/10/02: OffBeat Music Festival 2021

Don’t miss the annual OffBeat Music Festival. They come back this year with “the opportunity to experience new music from a choice of over 60 performances over 3 days at various locations in the heart of Reno.” Tickets are available in line now so go buy them while you can. The event will take place from September 29 at 7 p.m. to October 2 at midnight.

09/30/10/02: Reno Ukulele Festival

The Reno Ukulele Festival will be held September 30 to October 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The event offers free ukulele lessons for beginners, free entertainment, and an opportunity to see all types of musical wonders.

This kid-friendly music event is open to the public and will take place at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks. Tickets are available in line.

01/10: Colbie Caillat at Grand Sierra Resort

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Colbie Cailliat will be on stage at the Grand Sierra Resort Grand Theater in Reno on October 1. The show starts at 8:00 p.m., but the doors will open at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available in line with varied seat prices and are available from May 21.

02/10: Walking to end Alzheimer’s disease

On October 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease will walk two miles from Sparks Marina to raise funds for research and support the efforts of the ‘Alzheimer’s Association. Make sure you Register now before joining the march.
