United Arts Appeal 2021 fundraiser ends August 31 | News, Sports, Jobs

Julie Newell, president of the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County, encourages local businesses and individuals to support the UAA’s 2021 fundraiser before it closes at the end of the month.

“Our members look forward to fully resuming the classes, rehearsals and in-person performances that are so important but could not have happened during the worst of the COVID pandemic.” Newell said. “We are counting on the community to help us make this all possible. “

Contributions to United Arts Appeal support these member organizations: Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet, Community Music Project, 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center, Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, Lucille Ball Little Theater of Jamestown, and Western New York Chamber Orchestra.

Member offerings range from classes and performance opportunities for all ages in music, art, dance and theater, to concert presentations, plays, dance and films, from classical to contemporary. The UAA also provides grants for artistic projects to individual artists and non-profit organizations through its Project Pool Grants program.

To be recognized during the 2021-2022 Arts Season, contributions must be made no later than Tuesday August 31, with checks made payable to United Arts Appeal and mailed to PO Box 754, Jamestown, NY 14702 .

The United Arts Appeal received significant support this year from Chautauqua County, the Jessie Smith Darrah Fund, and the Hultquist and Holmberg Foundations. The major contributors to the UAA’s 2021 fundraiser to date are Patrons Phin and Sara DeMink, Lyndon and Melanie Gritters, Mark and Donna Hampton, Richard Turner Jr. and Terry Havens-Turner, and Dr Bruce Rockwell. Special gifts were given by ML Feather, Jamestown Roofing, Lake Shore Savings Bank, Lissa and Sherwood VanDewark and Wegmans. The donors are John and Elaine Sherwood.
