The foundation of higher education is conceptual learning, which enables learners to build on prior knowledge and apply it as needed. Conceptual learning is a new approach to acquiring knowledge and a type of Critical mind in which people develop the ability to classify and structure material using logic-based mental models. This new model of learning places more emphasis on conceptual understanding than on mere organization and dissemination. Data. For example, students with a conceptual understanding of fractions can work effectively with percentages, decimals, ratios, and other concepts. On the other hand, students with procedural knowledge struggle because they have to remember multiple methods. Conceptual learning helps students “remember” less. It encourages participation. While procedural learning requires the teacher to present information and provide examples, conceptual understanding requires student participation. In procedural learning, the learner would be attentive and practice the techniques without being aware of the underlying dynamics. But when it comes to conceptual understanding, the teacher and the student play an important role. The teacher gives students tasks or challenges that motivate them to fully understand the concept. Practice and analysis play a crucial role in consolidating student learning.
