Senior Technical Production Manager – Axios Charlotte

Job summary:
The Senior Technical Production Manager manages the theatrical systems that support the stage and backstage of the assigned theater. Theatrical systems include electrical systems, audio visual equipment, networks and rigging systems. This position is responsible for purchasing, installing, maintaining, operating and tearing down technical production equipment and coordinating all onstage and backstage activities with managers. lower level production, other departments and external clients and organizations for events and activities in the assigned theater. This position requires more than 40 hours per week, including mainly night work, weekends and holidays. Under the direction of the Technical Production Manager, the Technical Production Manager will work collaboratively with all staff and departments as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary technical department contact for events and activities in the assigned theater
• Manage a wide range of both theatrical and non-theatrical projects
• Provide leadership and guidance and delegate tasks to lower level production managers
• Manage theater systems including production of venue and event materials using industry standard applications
• Conceptualize, install, inventory, operate and maintain both theatrical and non-theatrical theatrical equipment systems and infrastructure
• Supervise stage/technical crew members, interns and other employees as required and provide supervision of stage, sound and lighting equipment for events and activities
• Meet with customers, vendors and other department personnel to discuss project and event requirements
• Help determine budgets, coordinate equipment, manpower requirements, schedules and review contracts, etc. for projects and events
• Assist with all technical needs in both theatrical and non-theatrical theaters
• Ensure compliance with applicable Blumenthal Performing Arts quality and safety policies, procedures, regulations and standards
• Responsible for completion of all necessary internal and external documentation including daily reports, payroll reports, review of contracts and addenda, plans, etc.
• Responsible for coordinating the purchase of equipment and providing support for negotiations and relations with suppliers
• Observe, stay current and follow industry accepted best practices
• Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications:
• Graduate or undergraduate degree in technical theater and a minimum of seven years of work experience in a technical venue management position for a large multi-theater venue that produces events and supports touring shows. Individuals with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required to meet the job requirements will be considered.

Skills and/or job requirements:
• Advanced knowledge of theatrical systems
• Experience with AutoCAD, Vectorworks or Lightwright design software and ability to produce documents as needed
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and using cloud-based file sharing
• Knowledge of lighting systems/equipment (ETC Ion, ETC [email protected], GrandMA) and experience in operating standard lighting equipment including wiring, wiring, programming and troubleshooting using industry standard practices
• Knowledge of audio systems/equipment (DigiCo, Midas, Behringer, Shure, Sennheiser, Lectrosonic) and working knowledge of signal flow and basic troubleshooting
• Knowledge of theatrical rigging and ability to plan and support rigging systems and equipment
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot cinema system issues, including signal flow, digital and analog systems, and networking systems
• Verbal, numerical and spatial ability
• Experience with Q-Lab programming and operations
• Basic understanding of projection and video equipment including HD, SDI, DVI and HDCP as it relates to video connections
• Time management and ability to coordinate and delegate responsibilities
• Budgeting and resource management
• Excellent communication skills

• Project management skills
• Motor coordination and ability to lift 50 lbs or more with proper lifting tools or with other team members
• Ability to climb a ladder, use elevating work platforms and work comfortably at different heights
