KFEE announces performance schedule at Skipworth
What better way to celebrate the completion of Skipworth Performing Arts Center’s first phase of renovations than with live music and entertainment?
Skipworth’s fall poster showcasing upcoming performances is organized by the Kosciusko Foundation for Excellence in Education. The events will also give residents the opportunity to see some of the incredible changes made to the auditorium to date.
“A poster is exactly what autumn has in store for us,” said KFEE’s Dr Tim Alford.
Locals will have the chance to see talented performers and experience something new to the area at the Skipworth Performing Arts Center.
Alford said all the performers were very talented. The program includes Jeff Bates, David Barnes, James Martin and the Holmes Community College Show Choir, Coachman Singers and Concert Chorale, conducted by Mike Yates.
With the first phase of renovations at Skipworth nearing completion, a few things need to be done before the second phase of renovations can begin.
Alford said the first phase is just a few projects away from completion. Projects include hanging historic Attala County photos, carpeting the walkways, and adding additional lighting and acoustic panels.
“Now there will be carpet in the driveway and lights will be running down the driveway,” Alford said.
Several artistic images from around the county will hang at the Skipworth Performing Arts Center, according to Alford.
Images depict the original Kosciusko Cornet Band, Mississippi All State Lions Band and Charlton Ferguson. Ferguson played in the Big Red Band in the early 1940s and died on the tail fin of the USS Oklahoma during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
In order to improve the sound of the auditorium, acoustic panels will be added in the coming weeks. By installing the paneling, an echoing sound will be avoided during performances.
It is hoped that all these projects will be completed for the fall poster.
Information on ticket prices and subscription packages and how to purchase them will be announced by KFEE.
Tickets will be sold from September, according to Alford. For ticket or event information, email [email protected] or call 662-289-2981.
