Dream Space: Art and Social Justice Experience

Dream Space transforms a downtown art gallery into a space for collective imagination and celebration. Come and discover wellness workshops including breathing work and meditation; a community action panel featuring social justice leaders; and a live poetry and music showcase featuring some of Philadelphia’s top emerging artists and musicians.

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – October 17, 2022 – Dream Space was organized to bring the community together to tap into the power of our collective imagination and visualize the future we deserve; using the mediums of the visual arts, wellness workshops and the medicine of music and speech.

Come see social justice-inspired art installations by Black and Indigenous Philly artists; Anna Kim; Edgard Zayas; Tykira Octaviah; Dollie Michelle; Kali Studios; Julian Moore-Griffin of AuFFLUENT Media; Rae.Dianz from Rae’s Rhapsody; and Iris Bonner of Those Pink Lips. Art installations are exhibited in the gallery from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The event begins with collective art experiences and wellness workshops, including “Ubuntu-Creating Our Community Vision” by Lenora Magee and a breathing session led by Sarahn Sankofa.

The workshops will conclude at 2:00 p.m. where guests are then invited to join the conversation during our community action panel titled “Unified Action”. Panelists include Brandi Blocker Anderson (Chief Racial Equity Strategist for the City of Philadelphia), Reuben Jones (Frontline Dads), Rashaun Williams (National Coalition of Black Reparations Philadelphia), Khalia D. Pitts (Our Mothers’ Kitchen) and Brandee Blocker Anderson (Chief Racial Equity Strategist for the City of Philadelphia).

During this conversation, panelists will discuss visions, models, and actions that social justice leaders and community members can use to advance toward their unified goals.

Experience the essence of Philadelphia with DJ sets, poetry and live musical performances from emerging and established artists such as Neptune XXI, Dave G., Jordan Brown, Chaithu Natar, Essence Natay and Shirmina Geneva.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be served à la carte by local vendors.
