La Trobe Bendigo visual arts students aren’t letting COVID-19 take away their ability to present their work as they prepare their own exhibition. While guests are not allowed to be on campus for a graduation show, student Abigail Bayliss-O’Dowd and a group of others have decided to take matters into their own hands. “We cannot organize a public graduation show, which would usually be outside of the La Trobe Arts Festival, so we decided to exhibit some of our works in town,” she said. More News: Seven deaths as COVID-19 cases dramatically decrease Abigail said COVID-19 has had a severe impact on her visual arts class. “All of our electives were unfortunately cut and studying a mostly practical degree online was really difficult,” she said. “Our wonderful speakers and technicians have worked so hard to provide a great online learning environment, drop off supplies when needed, and encourage regular check-ins. “Fortunately, we were allowed to return to campus to finish our work. “Our cohort of students is also very close and we all supported each other during the lockdowns so it means a lot to finally be able to show some of our work and finish our degree.
